Wake Up and Smell the Longevity

Wake Up and Smell the LongevitySomewhere along the line, coffee got a bad rap. Many people avoid it altogether, while just as many drink it and yet consider it a vice. Sure, it can be tough on some people’s digestion, and others may find the caffeine a little intense, but millions of us know that there’s not much that compares to the pleasure of a hot cup o’ joe. Thankfully, the truth is that there’s hardly any reason at all to shy away from a cup a day, or even a few cups.

Moderate daily coffee intake is actually quite good for you, as recent studies have confirmed that “coffee may reduce the risk of developing gallstones, discourage the development of colon cancer, improve cognitive function, reduce the risk of liver damage in people at high risk for liver disease, and reduce the risk of Parkinson’s disease. Coffee has also been shown to improve endurance performance in long-duration physical activities.” And if we stick to the Fair Trade and organic varieties, it’s not only good for the body but for the environment and global economy, as well.

Now if we could just get over our maddening crushes on those impossibly cute twenty-somethings behind the counters of our favorite little coffee houses, we’d be all set.
