High Resolution Video Goggles

Everybody wants one: the biggest screen they can get, smack dab in front of their faces. Just imagine 62 virtual inches of bright and shiny TV glory floating 9 feet before your peepers. It’s a bit of television nirvana - that’s what it is. Head-mounted heaven.

Most video goggles only display 320 x 240 resolution video, which is fine for the most basic of video sources, but these bad boys pump out 4 times the number of pixels. That’s right - you heard me! Plug in your favorite video source, be it video game console, iPod - whatever, as long as it supports NTSC out, sit back, and bombard your rods and cones with photons in the 400 to 700 nanometer range (that’s the visible light spectrum, for those science-challenged).

The included battery pack lets your goggles go portable - wear them on the subway, or on the treadmill, or catch up on the last season of Battlestar in bed while your significant other snoozes blissfully unaware. Sure, you might get looks while wearing them in public, but you know what? They’re jealous - that’s right! They want what you’ve got, and are coveting. Let ‘em. They can get their own. via[ThinkGeek.com]

Toshiba’s 815T PB on Softbank robot phone

Toshiba’s new 815T PB on Softbank, developed to coincide with a new show featuring robo-phones is freakishly weird, but we love it. This is what phones should aspire to be. We only hope that they don’t become self aware and drill into your skull, in order to take up permanant residence on your ear. We might all become servants to these things. Transformer fans will no doubt wet their pants. This is the first mobile phone that you could actually use as a toy. Yes, this is real. Obviously the silver one is the good guy, the black one just looks mean. Not much more info at this time, but I hope other phone manufacturers are paying attention.

SONY New Personal Field Headset

SONY has created strange looking set of headphones called the PFVR-V1. Described by Sony as a “marriage between headphones and speakers.” Two 1-inch die-cast aluminum speakers connected by a lightweight metal headband position the speakers about a half inch from the outer ear and direct the front of the speakers toward the ear canal.

Sony says this design, which delivers audio from multiple directions, provides “mid- and high-range audio frequencies in a field of sound aimed toward the outer ear, while the bass frequency sound is delivered directly to the ear canal via the extended bass reflex ducts.” Sounds interesting if it indeeds does as the advertising reads.

The Desktop Robo Vacuum

When your boss shouts demanding the clean desk policy be followed, you should whip this little vacuum out. It is a miniature fully working vacuum designed for your office desk. You simple hit the top of it and it sucks up crumbs from your keyboard, desk and where ever else your mess goes on your desk. Now I know that the “clean desk” policy is not related to crumbs on your keyboard, but using this little vac will certainly keep it clean in a physical sense even if you still haven’t completed the days tasks.

We Be Jammin

This concept called the Electro Belt has a chance at some real success if released in the market place. It’s a belt with an MP3 player built into the buckle. You keep it charged and synced via USB. The buckle can be customized with different face plates that illuminate while you’re jamming.

So what do you think? Priced right and I think it could sell boatloads.

Sony Cyber-shot release number two: DSC-H50

Cameras never seem to appear singly, and so alongside the W300 with its gallons of megapixels and elegant titanium looks is this compact, powerful little number.

With 9.1 megapixels and 15 x optical zoom, you should expect some very decent shots. The lens is, as ever with Sony, Carl Zeiss, and there's a nice, clear 3" LCD for playback. Among the features are the Smile Shutter grin-detecting mode, enhanced Face Detection, double anti-blur technology with Super SteadyShot, high(ish) sensitivity ISO of 3200 and the Advanced Sports Shooting mode for lightning fast action shots. Piled on top to provide the whipped cream and cherry is the Bracket Shooting feature which captures three images at different exposure, white balance or colour mode settings, and five built in colour filter effects.

The H50 will be available from early May, price tbc. source

Zenith Defy Xtreme Zero-G Watch

The Zero-G Defy Xtreme Stealth by elite watchmaker Zenith is one of the most lust-worthy timepieces we've seen in recent history. Modeled after the famous Stealth Bomber, this blackened titanium watch (utilizing a PVD coating process) is specially crafted to keep time without extreme gravity throwing off your appointments. Featuring a titanium strap with Kevlar inserts, hop out of your matching stealth jet, go for a dive down to 1,000 feet and stop a bullet with your wrist—all for what looks to be an increasingly reasonable $500,000.

iStick Concept

Designer Alexei Mikhailov was inspired by the iPhone's design, churning out the iStick concept as the perfect mobile convergence device. With such a small screen size, this definitely isn't meant for movie viewing nor photo browsing, but it does visually replicate the iPhone/Touch space within a device the size of a lipstick tube. Interestingly enough, all four surfaces are touch screen sensitive, so it will probably take a while before somebody thinks of a way to harness all four sides effectively. Features include built-in WiFi for convenient iTunes download sessions. Would you buy something shaped like this, or do you prefer to stick to the tried-and-tested iPod Shuffle where portability is concerned?

A Toast To The...Toaster Phone

Now here's a handset that defies convention - the Toaster Phone. Designed by Renata Quintela of Brazil, this concept allows the phone to be charged each time it is popped into the toaster unit, only to jump out from its comfortable confines whenever there is an incoming call. In addition to all the necessary buttons for one to make a phone call, the Toaster Phone also features an earpiece and microphone for you to carry out conversations while being ridiculed by your colleagues. Anyone willing to pick up the Toaster Phone should it ever roll off production lines?
