We’ve always known that regular exercise is a great and essential thing at any stage in life, although we now know that the benefits are not only immediate, they’re especially long-term in the little folks. Physical activity in youngens not only keeps them in shape while they’re young, but it helps prevent osteoporosis when they’re feeble, crotchety geezers like us. Daily physical activity — beyond sports; even at leisure times — while bones are still growing helps to increase overall density, which leads to higher peak bone mass, which means it’s less likely that they’ll turn brittle when you need them the most, i.e. at age 80 climbing in and out of the tub.
