ipod shuffle 3g gets candy coated colors

Thinking about picking up a new iPod Shuffle 3G, but think the basic brushed aluminum and black case designs a little drab for your flashy style? Miss the wide color selection of earlier 3G Shuffles? Well now you can brighten up your 3G with a fresh coat of color - for a price.
Apparently our pals over at Computer Choppers have made it their mission in life to color anodize and metallic plate anything and everything that can be anodized or plated. And the aluminum-shelled iPod Shuffle 3G fits that bill just perfectly. As was the case with their colorful anodized Mac Mini, these colors are much more durable than paint, and electrochemically bound to the metal so they won’t flake over time.
Now you’re looking at a price of $129 (USD) for a colorful Shuffle like the ones shown above (a $50 premium over Apple’s standard 4GB model), and prices go all the way up to $199 if you want to do something crazy like get yours plated in platinum. If you’re looking for a splash of color, you can order yours over at the Computer Choppers site.

Toxic Style

I have been covering design and technology for many years now and the product design that excites me the most is the Cellphone. If you trace it from its origins, you will be amazed to see how this communication device has transformed from a basic wireless telephone to a fashion gizmo that packs it in all. If it’s not the camera, projector or touchscreen prowess, then it’s the blinged look that this device boasts of. Here’s a look at the Poison that brings a transparent LCD screen to the device. Looking more like a perfume bottle than a phone, it’s toxic!via

Swarovski Crystal and 24k Gold Plated Bike Is The World's Most Expensive

The aurumania gold bike crystal edition(EUR 80,000; about $102,418) is hand built, plated with 24 carat gold and hand-adorned with more than 600 Swarovski crystals. Wow, the 24 carat gold and crystals, $100,000!! The limited to ten, the crystal and gold bike was created by a company named Aurumania, whose self-proclaimed purpose is to conceive of and design items with the extravagant use of gold, thereby turning familiar objects into collectible art. Their collection thus far consists of fifty 24 karat gold plated bikes, a gold plated bike rack and the special Swarovski crystal adorned 24 karat plated version. As one would expect for these prices, their products are hand delivered anywhere in the world. The handlebar grips are made of hand-sewn, chocolate-brown leather and a moulded Brooks leather saddle provides the right nostalgic touch. You don't like the crystals or EUR 80,000 is expensive to you! They've made 50 of the gold plated bikes(EUR 21,000) without the Swarovski Crystal adornments. They have the leather Brooks saddle and hand sewn leather handles too.

Audi Shark Concept by Kazim Doku

I love this Audi flying car concept! Called Audi Shark, it was designed by Kazim Doku and won the Desire Competition by Domus Academy. The two-seater flying sportscar is inspired by the motorclycles and airplanes and offers its passengers "strong sensations and high levels of safety." The streamlined design of the exterior offers a visual reference to the car's name and - in combination with the rear lower spoiler - gives the vehicle an "underwater" appearance. Both the headlights and the tail lights are made by transparent tubes which integrate LED units. The interior features sporty seats integrated in the cockpit structure.

The Breezy, Beautiful Brazilian Leaf House

Outside of Rio de Janeiro, on a beautiful little beach with amazing blue water, sits a little house with a flowering roof that shades and protects like a big tropical banana leaf. Designed by Mareines + Patalano, the open air abode is meant to encourage interaction and connection between man and nature. With verandas and open spaces in between rooms and no corridors, the tropical beach house is an ideal place for social gatherings and parties. The open layout also takes advantage of trade winds that blow in from the sea, providing natural ventilation and passive cooling.
The architects describe their design as low-tech eco-efficient, due to the use of natural ventilation for cooling. Homes in the tropics rarely need much more than a breeze in order to keep the environment comfortable. As for other sustainable design techniques, the roof harvests rainwater for use in the house, and the interior is naturally finished with wood, stone and natural fabrics. We suspect the wood was harvested locally, and can only hope it was done so in a sustainable fashion.
Above all the Leaf House is amazing inspiration for organic design that brings the outdoors in. It protects the inhabitants from rain and sun, while bringing in fresh breezes to cool the interior. The design was originally inspired by Brazil’s Indian Architecture, which used local materials to provide shade, protection and encourage natural breezes for cooling.

Yoga Audio System

The Yoga Audio System you see above aims to bring together a whole bunch of musical functionalities into a single device. Not only does it contain an iPod dock like any decent modern audio system should, it also features a cell phone dock (no idea on which handset(s) it will be compatible with), a CD player for those who are still hanging on to their aging musical collection and an amplifier to bring the (small) room down. The Yoga was inspired by raindrops falling to the ground, featuring a seamless design that seemingly blooms from the central core to the sides. It features Bluetooth connectivity, but we don't think this will make it as a party device since it is way to small to pump out the necessary volume levels required to certify it as such.
