Leica S2 - 37-Megapixel Camera

Leica launched a new S2 medium-format camera. It packed a 37.5-megapixel, 30 x 45 mm sensor that is 56% bigger than that of a 35mm full frame SLR camera. The S2 uses a cutting-edge Kodak sensor, dual shutters (focal plane or leaf), a weatherproof body for all those fashion shoots under waterfalls and a 3-inch LCD screen. No word on price yet now.

eROCKIT Electric-Assist Bike

Is it a motorcycle or a souped-up bike? The eROCKIT's inventors call it the human-hybrid machine. The cyclist's pedaling motions assist the motor, which multiplies the rider's effort by a factor of 50, the company says. The faster you pedal, the faster you go. Wow, a weird bike! It uses a nano-phosphate lithium battery, which it expects to last for 10 years or 50,000 kilometers of use. It likes a mini motorcycle, can reach up to 50 miles per hour. A full charge should run for 60 to 80 kilometers, depending on driving or pedaling style. It weighs about 100 kilos (225 pounds). Unfortunately RockiT plans to build just 10 machines in 2009 for $44,000 price tag!!

Going Yo-Yo Over the iPhone

Peter Thuvander was so excited over his new iPhone that he designed an induction powered yo-yo charger for it. It charges its lithium ion battery using an OLPC crank. 30 “yo-yo” cranks is all you need to juice up your iPhone which sounds almost too good to be true. Check out the video after the jump.

Loop Concept is all Solar Panels and Touchscreen Windows

Loop explores the relationships between the present and the future. Loop is Peugeot’s green thinking for tomorrow’s megatropolis. It signifies the use of green thinking – how we use our resources today determines what we will receive in return in the future.

The roof spreads along the entire length of the body maximizing space for a solar panel which acts as a secondary power source for this family car. It also creates an interesting visual pattern. The primary energy source is a rechargeable lithium battery located at the rear of the vehicle. Materials proposed for the vehicle are eco-friendly tho the designer doesn’t specify what exactly.

A gangway feel is provided between two rows of seats. Semi-circular bags are located along this gangway. They come with customized options for storage, entertainment, interaction, etc, providing the user with greater flexibility and ease of use.

Space is also provided for a small indoor plant. This brings the outdoors into the interior and gives a sense of the natural surroundings beyond the gull-wing doors.

Another feature is a Hi-tech concept camera, embedded within the passenger windows. Whenever anything interesting is seen on the road, passengers touch their window to capture a snapshot.

Nokia’s scroll OLED laptop concept by Rodrigo Mercado

Check out this funky laptop concept by designer Rodrigo Mercado for Nokia with a scroll type OLED. OLED’s offer a bright and extremely colorful images with a wide viewing angle, low power and high contrast ratio. Viewing content on an OLED laptop will certainly become more fun.
The voice activated laptop along with scrolling OLED and additional features like inbuilt Skye and several other popular cell phone functions make this tech gadget irresistible..
Unlike LCD’s, OLED’s don’t need back lights, and the fast response times make them ideal for viewing movies. Movie viewing on a laptop will never be the same again if this concept by Rodrigo comes to life.

Nokia BMW video phone concept

Meet the Nokia BMW Video Phone. Take one look and it’s obviously the BMW of cellphones right? A thing of beauty. It’s what you get when you combine the ultimate driving machine with the ultimate video mobile phone.

The Nokia BMW mobile phone has an interesting standout feature called “push to open” which is a mechanism that rotates 90 degrees. Push the button and your phone is a handy-cam. We’re thinking they should get on this one real quick, but experience tells us that they’ll take their own sweet time and let someone else beat them to it. Someone like Sony for instance.

2009 Yamaha YZF-R1

The 2009 Yamaha YZF-R1 is the first ever street legal motorcycle with a crossplane crankshaft which previously could be only be found in their MotoGP racing bikes. The 90 degree positioning of the connecting rods in the crossplane crankshaft allows for better power distribution and removes inertial crankshaft torque for smoother torque output. Other new features include Yamaha Chip Controlled Throttle for instant throttle response, D-Mode for rider selectable throttle control modes, and a new lightweight aluminum frame coupled with a rear frame of die-cast magnesium.
