London 2012 Olympics torch

| The aluminium torch was created by UK design studio, Barber Osgerby. It is perforated with 8,000 holes, each representing one of the torchbearers. Made from a golden aluminium alloy. The creative team behind the London Olympic torch has won the prestigious Design of the Year award 2012. The Olympic torch, along with the other shortlisted designs, is on show at the Design Museum in London until July 4. |

Rocking-2-Gether Chair

| The Rocking-2-Gether Chair designed by Paul Kweton. "The rocking-2-gether chair (patent pending) is a hybrid between a rocking chair and dog/cat house. This project initially started in 2011, generating digital 3D models. Several 1:8 scale 3D printed models followed, refining the balance and rocking behaviour of the chair. The prototype 2.1 chair is made out of CNC milled birch plywood. The density and amount of the CNC milled "ribs" can be controlled with differently sized wooden spacers (see photographs), ergo controlling the visual connection between the person and his/her pet. The design process and final full scale prototype of the rocking-2-gether chair showcases the successful combination of digital modeling and digital fabrication" |

| The Fisheye-Nikkor 6mm f/2.8 lens, first produced in 1970 at the Photokina trade show in Cologne, is a 220ยบ fisheye Nikkor with an astonishing speed of f/2.8. It is the world’s most extreme wide-angle lens to cover the 24 x 36mm image area (at the time) with a massive glass dome which dwarfs the camera attached. The lens officially went into production in 1972 and uses 12 glass elements in nine groups with a total weight of 5.2kg. The extremely wide-angle lens from Nikkor is available via graysofwestminster for £100,000 GBP (approximately $161,000USD). |

President Reagan's UFO storie
It was the last day in the White House for President Ronald Reagan. He wandered into the Oval Office for the last time to look around. Taking a piece of paper he wrote a note for his successor, George Bush. He carefully placed the note inside one of the empty draws of the Presidential Desk. "Don’t let the turkeys get you down," Reagan had written.Glancing around the office the president spotted his National Security Advisor Colin Powell arriving for the final morning national security briefing.
As Powell walked up, Reagan reached into his coat pocket and pulled out the white laminated card he had carried with him for the past eight years containing the nuclear launch codes. "Oh, who do I give these to?" Reagan asked. Powell told him not to worry - a military aide would take the card from him after the new President was sworn in.
The President of the United States is commonly referred to as the most powerful man in the world, ruling over the most powerful economy and military on the planet. In reality, the President of the United States is nothing more than a job, much like any other job in any business, industry, or government in the world.
Whether President or ditch digger, when the job ends, it is time to hand in the keys to the executive washroom, the company ID, or in the Reagan's case the white laminated card that gave him the power to destroy the world.
In effect, President Reagan was much like any other job holder in the world just playing a role, like an actor in a stage play.
The United States is the stage. It will continue to accommodate plays after each of the key actors have retired. The person playing the role of President will be replaced by another actor after a two year competition for the job. Each President has the chance to alter what direction the country will take, but the country will go on evolving long after the President is gone.
