The Breezy, Beautiful Brazilian Leaf House

Outside of Rio de Janeiro, on a beautiful little beach with amazing blue water, sits a little house with a flowering roof that shades and protects like a big tropical banana leaf. Designed by Mareines + Patalano, the open air abode is meant to encourage interaction and connection between man and nature. With verandas and open spaces in between rooms and no corridors, the tropical beach house is an ideal place for social gatherings and parties. The open layout also takes advantage of trade winds that blow in from the sea, providing natural ventilation and passive cooling.
The architects describe their design as low-tech eco-efficient, due to the use of natural ventilation for cooling. Homes in the tropics rarely need much more than a breeze in order to keep the environment comfortable. As for other sustainable design techniques, the roof harvests rainwater for use in the house, and the interior is naturally finished with wood, stone and natural fabrics. We suspect the wood was harvested locally, and can only hope it was done so in a sustainable fashion.
Above all the Leaf House is amazing inspiration for organic design that brings the outdoors in. It protects the inhabitants from rain and sun, while bringing in fresh breezes to cool the interior. The design was originally inspired by Brazil’s Indian Architecture, which used local materials to provide shade, protection and encourage natural breezes for cooling.

Yoga Audio System

The Yoga Audio System you see above aims to bring together a whole bunch of musical functionalities into a single device. Not only does it contain an iPod dock like any decent modern audio system should, it also features a cell phone dock (no idea on which handset(s) it will be compatible with), a CD player for those who are still hanging on to their aging musical collection and an amplifier to bring the (small) room down. The Yoga was inspired by raindrops falling to the ground, featuring a seamless design that seemingly blooms from the central core to the sides. It features Bluetooth connectivity, but we don't think this will make it as a party device since it is way to small to pump out the necessary volume levels required to certify it as such.

Memory comes in the form of 4GB of DDR3 RAM, and up to 1TB of HDD storage, there is also the option to add ATI Radeon graphics cards, there are no details on which models are available with the Lenovo IdeaCentre A600.

If your looking for a new set of gaming headphones then check out these new one from Psyko, the Psyko 5.1 gaming headphones.
The Psyko 5.1 Gaming Headphones are different from your standard 5.1 headphones, which normally use a simulated sound environment, but with these gaming headphones you get real sound from the 5 built in speakers and subwoofer.

These funky looking gaming headphone have been designed to provide a true 3D sound, exactly like your home cinema or PC setup.

The Psyko 5.1 Gaming Headphones are available for $299, I bet they sound amazing whilst gaming.

Disposable pre-paid wrist phone

In these troubled times, you don’t want a super expensive phone with all the bells and whistles… Okay, you do, but for a moment let’s just pretend. The Disposable Pre-Paid Phone concept is one of the most basic handsets you could hope to find. The idea is that it would be affordable enough for anyone to purchase for use in an emergency situation.

Which makes sense. You would want a portable phone you can wear it around your wrist, for Dick Tracy

type emergencies. How billing would work is anybody’s guess. But it looks great in Wii-white. No alphanumeric keypad here, which is lame. Sometimes in an emergency, sending text messages is a good idea.

Oh well. Chances are you would never need it anyway, since you keep your cell phone on you so often.

$2.41m iPhone 3G Kings is World's most expensive Phone

For me luxury items are those that are not only ridiculously expensive but are also very impractical or unnecessary. Personally I think the iPhone is still quite expensive. I think it spreads itself too thin in trying to be too many things at once. On the other hand, its price isn’t that ridiculous for a phone, so it would be silly to call it a luxury item. But now phone blinger Peter Aloisson is producing bejeweled iPhones that will make you think that Louis Vuitton dog carriers are practical. The price of one pimped out iPhone? € 1.79 million, which is roughly $2.41 million USD.

Called the “iPhone 3G King’s Button”, each of these mind-blowing creations is adorned with 18-carat yellow gold, white gold and rose gold. I didn’t even know there was a rose gold. Then it gets insane: lining the phone’s frame are 138 “brilliant cut” diamonds. Then it goes up to 11: The King’s Button’s Home button is topped with a 6.6 carat diamond.

The price by the way doesn’t take into account the 20% VAT.

Folks, diamonds are just compressed carbon. What the hell. Sometimes I wonder what would happen if all the farmers in the world decided to jack up the price of their products to diamond-like prices. But that’s just me.

Solar Power Sunglasses Can Charge Your Gadgets

With the snow coming down fast this time of year, we can’t help but dream of laying on the beach listening to our iPod and relaxing. But how to keep it charged? If we had this handy pair of designer sunglasses, we could keep our iPod or other iDevice fully charged while basking in the sun or walking around town. Designed by Hyun-Joong Kim and Kwang-Seok Jeong, these slick “Self-Energy Converting Sunglasses” feature dye solar cells that are integrated into their lenses. Although perhaps not as fun as using a yo-yo to charge your devices, this solar solution is probably a heck of a lot more practical and stylish to boot.

Jeong and Kim’s power-generating glasses are composed of a “cheap organic dye [that uses] nano technology [to provide] cheap but high energy efficiency.” The sunglass lenses can collect and convert enough energy from the sun to power small devices connected by a power jack at the back of the frame.

We expect to see solar panels integrated into more and more devices in the coming years. We’ve already seen photovoltaics used in bags, backpacks, lawnmowers, and cars, so these sunglasses are no surprise. As solar technology becomes more advanced and lightweight, sunglasses like these may even become the norm. It’s also a good thing that huge sunglasses are in style now, because that means there is more surface area for energy collection.
