The Cobalt Pocket Watch

Check out this funky retro sytled concept, the Cobalt Pocket Watch from designer Adam Huffman.
The cobalt is styled like a pocket watch, giving it that retro look.
Housed inside is a round OLED touch screen that allows access to all the Cobalt’s functions, which include a watch with time, date and temperature.

There is even a built in cellphone which can receive email, text and voicemail and make calls, it comes with Bluetooth so you can connect a headset to it to make and answer calls.

The display can be changed to suit your mood or match your atire from a minimal analog display to a digital one.

This is a great retro styled gadget, where old meets new technology to produce a stylish usable gadget, and it won’t look out of place with your Saville Row suit.

Alienware brings back Area-51 ALX desktops: Very powerful indeed

Friends! Alienware is bringing back the Area-51 ALX desktop, the top-of-the-line model that had many PC enthusiasts reaching for their credit cards not too long ago. This time, the Dell-owned brand has overclocked the Intel Core 2 Extreme QX9770—”the big one”—from 3.2GHz to 4.0Ghz. What on God’s Green Earth you need that many hertz for I don’t know, but it’s good to see Alienware not forgetting who brought it to the dance. Carelessly executed metaphors, at your service.

The components: quad GeForce 9800 GX2 or dual Radeon HD 3870, up to 4GB RAM (hmm, that seems low to me), liquid cooling, the whole 10 yards.

And it still looks like a glowing space ship, natch.

Lusso Turntable Costs a Bomb

If you happen to have a virtually bottomless bank account, then the Lusso turntable is definitely a candidate that will scream for your money. With prices starting from $47,000 upwards, this turntable features a combination of black circular rings with silverish aluminum backdrop that will definitely bring an added touch of elegance to any room. Germans are extremely precise people, so it is no surprise that one can expect audio perfection from the Lusso turntable (especially after forking out such a huge amount for it!), featuring three height adjustable connected cones made from alternate layers of aluminum and black acrylic. As for the central inverted cone, it is there to support the aluminum and acrylic platter.

Geotagger Concept Device

Japanese designer Takumi Yoshida is definitely forward looking as he thinks that the future of social networks will lie in a concept device known as the Geotagger. This device enables real-time tagging of locations on a futuristic looking iPod instead of taking on the more common GPS form factor. Described as "physical social bookmarking on-the-go", the Geotagger will probably roll out of manufacturing lines assuming the current social networking meme is able to pull through the next few years with greater momentum forward.

The Longest Mobile Phone Ever Or Just Looks It

Candy bars, flips, bricks, diamonds - phones come in a myriad of monikers but a common denominator are their form factors. For the most part they’re designed to be pocketable. You can throw all those expectations out the window because designer Tamer Koseli wants no part of it. His NEED Phone is probably the longest mobile phone concept we’ve seen.

He argues mobile phones are basic multimedia gadgets, far from their traditional aim of communication. He wanted to create a device with no superfluous features. That’s right, you won’t find a MP3 player, video capabilities, or even a camera. But WAIT! Don’t dismiss the Super Phone yet because it’s got a touchscreen. Scratch that, it’s got 2 touchscreens. Oh what? DAMN! Yes friends one is an OLED that displays basic info - whatever that is while the other is where finger play happens - scrollin’ for daysssss. Best part is when the thing breaks, just use it as a protective weapon. I’m sure it could double as a baton.

Would be interesting to see the kinds of cases manufacturers would make for this.

Designer: Tamer Koseli

Suzuki’s Green Machine

The good folks at Suzuki are serious about going green and have been spotted testing their latest concept, the Suzuki Crosscage Hydrogen Fuel Cell Motorcycle. With no gears, no noise, no clutch and no emissions, this hydrogen fuel cell / electric hybrid two-wheeler just might be the future of motorcycles and is closer to reality than you might think. Seriously, there is a guy riding one in these pictures, you won’t hear it coming, but it is.

Auto design that floats my boat…

Design mash-ups can be so much fun. Take this 1963 Corvette Stingray inspired boat design by Swedish designer Bo Zolland. He takes the split-back window design of the classic American muscle car and fuses it into a watercraft that manages to come off very futuristic and ultra luxurious at the same time. I am not sure of having the backseat passenger’s head just inches away from the exposed motor, but this is just a concept after all. Rumor has it, if you really want one of these made, Zolland will direct you to a Swedish boat manufacturer called “Stand-Craft” that will be glad to carve one out as is.

MobiBLU Cube Player V3

MobiBLU have created their latest version of the Cube Player. Version 3 is still the same shape as the previous versions, but the specs have been bettered. This latest version has 2GB of internal memory, can play MP3 and WMA formats. An FM tuner is built in should you desire to listen to something else other then your own music and if you want to create your own recordings, then that is possible too as it has a small mic built in.

The small screen on the Cube is OLED which allows you to browse through your photos and if you are crazy, watch videos on it.

The Cube will cost a reasonable $100 when it is launched the beginning of next month.
